ilgisa 2021 awards
One role ILGISA plays is to formally recognize individuals and groups who have contributed to the betterment of GIS in the State of Illinois. ILGISA accomplishes this by distributing a variety of awards each year.

2021 Hilton Distinguished Collaboration Award Winner:
Lucy Stanfield, US Environmental Protection Agency
Lucy has been an outstanding and highly contributing member of ILGISA for many years. She has shown a continued interest in advancing GIS in Illinois throughout her career. Her work in ILGISA has helped to increase collaboration between ILGISA members and differing branches of government. She has helped to bridge the gap in communication for GIS professionals between the varying levels of government; Federal, State, County, Municipal, etc. She has been and continues to be an integral part of the Program Committee each year. Where she dedicates her time and resources to helping plan and gather content for ILGISA Regional Meetings and the Annual Conference. Lucy has served without fail as an ILGISA committee member and she has dedicated her time to ILGISA with her leadership by serving as a previous Board Director and Committee Chair.

2021 Outstanding Student Award Winner:
Braeton Kimbro, Western Illinois University
Braeton Kimbro is an Agriculture major and Precision Agriculture minor at Western Illinois University (WIU). He has worked in the GIS Center at (WIU) during the summer of 2021 and aspires to work in the field of precision agriculture upon graduation. Braeton is rather new to GIS having taken his first GIS class in the spring of 2021. He excelled in that class which led to a summer position in the GIS Center. In the GIS Center he has demonstrated an ability to quickly learn the software and GIS principles and has become a contributing member of our staff while working on Next Generation 911 projects. He has successfully worked on quality control of street centerline, address point and various emergency service boundaries. He has also been involved in field data collection. Braeton pushes himself to learn more and work harder and this has been evident in the projects he is involved in at the GIS Center. GIS Center staff have been impressed with this newcomer and feel he deserves recognition for his efforts and abilities.
