Surface Topogragy of Lake County, Illinois
Abstract- In April of 2002 a LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) survey was taken of Lake County, Illinois. This survey produced 2 foot contour lines with sufficient detail to satisfy National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS) for a 1 inch = 100 feet product. This data will be useful for many kinds of elevation analysis including hydrological modeling, environmental applications, geologic studies, and cartographic products.

Judged as "Best Map" at the spring 2004 ILGISA Conference.
Map creation: Bryan Luman and project coordinator: Richard Knodel, Lake County Department of Information and Technology, GIS/Mapping Division
