ILGISA Educational Endowment Fund
ILGISA has established scholarships for undergraduate seniors or first year graduate students at Illinois colleges and universities. To be eligible, the recipient may be from any discipline but must be working on projects that use GIS as part of their research or thesis. Students are awarded a onetime $1,000.00 scholarship and are required to present their work at the annual ILGISA Spring Conference. Once the Fund becomes sustainable, the scholarships will be awarded each March (announced at the Spring Conference) for the following summer or fall.
Please support the Illinois students who are studying to become members of your profession...they may be your future employees!
Endowment Mission:
To promote higher education in Geographic Information Systems and
Geographical-related courses by funding an endowment.
Endowment Objectives:
• To build a fund sufficient to award scholarships from the endowment interest
• To ultimately raise $100,000.00
• To begin supporting Illinois resident students studying for industry careers in accredited Illinois colleges and universities when the first $33,000 is raised
• To maintain a perpetual fund where the principal remains intact
• To commit 99¢ of every $1 to scholarships – all administrative costs are being paid by the Illinois GIS Association
Contribution pledges may be paid over a five-year period. Early receipts facilitate early disbursements and are greatly appreciated. The Illinois GIS Association is a 501(c)6 organization. Contributions may be restricted to the ILGISA Educational Endowment Fund.
