July 25, 2007: Champaign, Illinois stakeholder meeting
In March of 2007 the State of Illinois was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Federal Geographic Data Committee. This grant is for The FiftyStates Initiative which is designed to bring all public and private stakeholders together in statewide GIS Coordination bodies that help to form effective partnerships. The goals of the grant are to develop both strategic and business plans for the State of Illinois, and to establish a coordinating council to better manage geospatial program activities in Illinois. In Champaign, Illinois on July 25, 2007 the first stakeholder meeting for Illinois was held. The goal of this meeting was to explain the current status of coordination and collaboration throughout the State along with garnering the input of stakeholders for the purpose of utilizing that input to craft the strategic and business plans to move forward. Several issues were identified and those results will be posted here as they become available. 141 people attended.
