INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
GIS Internships, Job Shadowing, and Mentors Wanted
I am seeking involvement for those GIS professionals and organizations who are interested in supporting undergraduate GIS students in job shadowing experiences, internships, and mentoring relationships. Preference is for organizations and individuals within a 30-mile radius of the Chicago area, but other areas are welcome as well.
Job shadowing involves having a student visit your organization for a few hours, a half day, or an entire day, introduces them to your organization and allows them to observe what it is that a GIS professional does on a daily basis. This involves no stipend and very little in terms of time commitment from you or your organization.
GIS internships are being sought by undergraduate GIS students who have all completed introductory GIS and programming coursework, as well as being members of professional organizations and have attended professional conferences. Most are sophomores and juniors and are seeking summer positions in/around the Chicago Metro area. Most students seek paid internships, but those with modest stipends are also desired.
Lastly, there are opportunities for those to serve as mentors for undergraduate students while they are completing their education and internships. More details on the Elmhurst College Mentoring Program here:
